About us

People transformation, for a resilient future

Kinarya Ananta Satukata Foundation — or Satukata Foundation — is a non-profit organisation focused on people transformation for a more resilient and sustainable future. We support individuals, communities, institutions, and partners to develop the knowledge, capacity, leadership, and collaboration needed to create positive social and environmental change.

Rather than positioning itself primarily as an implementing organisation, Satukata Foundation serves as an accelerator, facilitator, and learning platform — connecting people, ideas, knowledge, partnerships, and practical models that enable communities and institutions to move from awareness to action.

Our work is guided by three interconnected dimensions — People, Nature, and Action — transforming people and their relationships with nature, and turning knowledge and collaboration into meaningful action.

Ema Widiastuti

Board of Trustee

Ema Widiastuti has spent three decades turning places into destinations and ideas into institutions. An economist educated at Universitas Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta Indonesia and the University at Albany, New York USA, she began as a lecturer at her alma mater before building a hospitality career in the United States, rising to General Manager with Hilton. Returning home to direct sales and marketing at the five-star Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta, she founded Hyatt Pink Ribbon, the breast cancer awareness programme that endures as the hotel's annual charity run. As Director of Business Development of Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), Ema steered three flagship destinations spanning 1,700 hectares: The Nusa Dua in Bali (350 ha), which she opened to new five-star partnerships such as Renaissance Bali Nusa Dua Resort; The Mandalika in Lombok (1,250 ha), whose rise as a Special Economic Zone and sportstainment destination she accelerated, anchored by Pullman Merujani Lombok Hotel, Mandalika Beach Club and Resort and the Mandalika International Circuit; and The Golo Mori in Labuan Bajo (100 ha), whose opening she led. The circuit made The Mandalika more than a tourism destination, bringing MotoGP, one of the world's most prestigious motorsport events, to Indonesia in 2020-2022. Through Covid-19, Ema helped keep the company and its 22 tenants, from five- and four-star hotels to commercial areas, operating soundly, and joined fellow stakeholders in initiating Bali's reopening to tourism in 2022. Anticipating the growing demand for Indonesian tourism, she co-founded Demand Creation and Indonesia's first tourism holding company, advancing the nation's economic programmes through tourism and aviation. She also served as Commissioner of PT ITDC Nusantara Utilitas and championed women's leadership as Pembina Utama of Kirana ITDC. Today, as Founder and Strategic Advisor of PT Siam Flotilla Persada, she pioneers the Flotilla Abrasion Defense System (FADS), uniting shoreline protection, ecosystem restoration and climate adaptation. At Satukata Foundation, Ema devotes this experience to the conviction that education, a thriving environment and empowered communities are the foundations of a self-reliant, inclusive and sustainable Indonesia.
